Interest of magnetic field to detect defaults on PEMFC

Résumé

The distribution of the fuel cell current density is representative of fuel cell behavior, affects its performance and enhances its ageing. The measurement of the magnetic field around the fuel cell is one of the means to identify the current distribution inside the fuel cell and thus the stack behavior. This measurement has the advantage to be non-intrusive. This study presents the interest of magnetic field to detect defaults on PEMFC. The magnetic field is measured by 24 sensors placed in a circle around the middle of the stack. Comparison of the shape of the magnetic fields magnitude is carried out for different inhomogeneities of the current density distribution. These results show that this approach is relevant for detection and isolation of the defaults that can appear on the stack
