Regularization approach for an immersion-based observer design

Résumé

This paper is about immersion-based observerdesign for nonlinear systems. Starting from the fact thatdirect immersion may result in stability issues, which may inturn affect the observer performance, a method is proposedto overcome such problems, by somehow ’stabilizing’ thetransformation (or ’regularizing’ it). A couple of examples arepresented to illustrate the effectiveness of the method, includingthe challenging case of state and parameter estimation in aspeed sensorless induction machine.
