Modified AM2 with the hydrolysis step and the ammonium consideration

Résumé

We have introduced a hydrolysis step to the AM2 which is considered as an important phase in the anaerobic digestion process when particulate organic substrates are to be degraded. Furthermore, we have considered ammonium as an additional state variable and its contribution to the alkalinity of the solution, while preserving the simplicity of the model. Simulations and comparisons with the ADM1 show satisfactory results. In the following we will call the modified model AM2 as the AM2H and the AM2HN to distinguish between the model with the introduction of the hydrolysis step and the one with the ammonium consideration respectively.
