Influence de l'organisation spatiale des affichages sur l'efficacité de la recherche visuelle

This experimental study aims at determining the possible influence of display spatial layout on visual search efficiency and comfort. 4 structures have been experimented for displaying colour photo collections (30 photos per display): random, matrix-like, star-like and elliptic. 120 scenes (30 per structure) were presented to 10 participants who had to identify and select a pre-viewed target photo with the mouse. As expected, selection times were influenced by the position of the target on the screen and task difficulty. In addition, eye tracking data recorded for 5 participants indicate that, during the initial target detection stage, detection times and scan paths were shortest for the ellicptic structure. These results are statistically significant.
