The immunohistochemicallocalizationoftheglycosphingolipidasialo-GM1in theintestineofweanedpiglets
Résumé
The duodenum,jejunum,ileum,cecumandcolonofthreemalehybridpiglets,4weeksoldjustafterweaning, wereinvestigatedfortheimmunohistochemicallocalizationoftheasialoganglioside,GM1(asialo-GM1).Thestudyrevealedvariousdegreesoflabellingforthisacidglycosphingolipidinneural,epithelialandbloodelementsinallthegutsegments.Theimmunolabelledneuralstructures,representedbyganglionicperikaryaandnervefibers,weredistributedthroughouttheintestinalwalland showedquantitativevariationsinthevariousregions.Incontrastthenumericalevaluationoflabelledepithelialcellswasencounteredonlyintheterminaljejunumandalongtheentireileum,cecum andlargeintestine.Inaddition,aheterogenouspopulationofimmunolabelledleukocyteswasspread randomlyinthelaminapropriaandsubmucosaoftheentireintestineanddidnotshowanyapparent quantitativefluctuationsbetweenthedifferentparts.TheobservationsregardingthetypicaldistributionpatternsoftheasialogangliosideGM1inganglionicperikaryaandepithelialcellsofweanedpigletsarediscussedinrelationtotheirpossiblefunctionalsignificanceintheintestineandothermammalianorgans.
