Direct numerical simulation of heat transfer from liquid droplet in a continuous immiscible liquid phase

Résumé

Numerical simulations are used to investigate the transient, forced convection heat transfer from a spherical droplet, at low to moderate Reynolds numbers. The Navier-Stokes and heat balance equations are solved numerically in orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system, inside and outside the droplet, by a finite volume method. The results were validated against reference cases from literature. A parametric study was performed to highlight the key parameters that correlates the Nusselt number.
