Low temperature syntheses of sodium and copper vanadium oxibronzes

Résumé

Low temperature preparations of vanadium oxibronzes were carried out to obtain finely divided powders in view of catalytic applications. From a commercial precursor V2O5, the reduction by LiI in acetonitrile led to ?-LiV2O5. The synthesis of ??-NaV2O5 was achieved for the first time at 373 K by the ionic exchange Li+/Na+ in aqueous solution. A new copper bronze, Cu0.5V2O5(H2O)0.5, was also prepared according to the same experimental procedure by Li+/Cu2+ or Na+/Cu2+ exchange. These lithium, sodium and copper bronzes exhibit surface areas ranging from 5 to 50 m2g?1 which make them good candidates for catalytic studies.
