Utilisation d'un SIG nomade couplé à un GPS pour cartographier les paysages du Sud-Ouest toulousain
Résumé
A system composed of a GPS (tomtom), a pocket computer (HP Ipaq) and a mobile GIS ArcPad (ESRI TM) helped to record ground truth data. An experiment carried out in the South of Toulouse (France) described how to map landcover with this system and analyse crop development using satellite images. On the ground, thanks to the GPS, the user followed a path road previously recorded in a vector layer superposed on a GoogleEarth map or a satellite image. With this tool, the user easily recorded ground location and categorical data in the GIS. This system renew data acquisition on the ground because the control between visual observations and SIG data, satellite images are instantly possible. In the near future, adding data analyse methods to the pocket computer will open new interactive applications for environmental issues.
