Optimization of thermal joint behaviour for the detection of bonding defects by infrared thermography
Résumé
This study intends to develop the use of bonded solutions for the repair of primary aircraft structures. We propose in this way a new NDT procedure by Infrared Thermography in order to be able to detect internal bonding defects. Difficulties come from the weak thermal contrast between the properties of the constitutive parts of the repair and, above all, the small thickness of the joint and the depth of the bonded interfaces The strategy consists in designing the joint material in view of the non destructive thermal inspection, specially by introducing boron nitride particles within the epoxy joint to enhance the thermal gradients.
