Near-infrared luminescence switching in a spin-crossover polymer nanocomposite

Résumé

A near‐infrared‐emitting luminescent nanocomposite material was obtained by the association of polyethylenimine, a cyanine dye, and nanoparticles of the [Fe(Htrz)2(trz)](BF4) spin‐crossover complex. The nanocomposite was characterized by electron microscopy, as well as by temperature‐dependent magnetic and fluorescence measurements. An unexpected strong and reversible luminescence intensity drop was observed when switching the spin‐state of the ferrous ions from the high‐spin to the low‐spin state, denoting a switching mechanism, which is not related to the spectral overlap between the dye and the iron complex.
