Repairing composites
Résumé
This chapter deals with issues and main challenges concerning large repair of primary composite structures. Feedback’s analyze about use of composite parts, during million cumulated flight hours, demonstrate the best damage tolerance of composite solution but also the necessity to define optimized repair solutions. A global vision of repair is proposed through a case study, with a focus on two elementary bricks, the MITE toolbox and low-cost tools adapted to this case by case process. Finally, a highlight is done on a new method leading to reduce the patch size and the machined volume of matter for a given damaged volume.
