Particle chain formation in a liquid polymer under ac electric field: Model and experiments

Résumé

This study treats the influence upon the bulk dielectric properties of epoxy resin loaded with barium titanate (BaTiO 3 ) particles when an ac electric field is used to form the particles into chains. A particle chain formation model, coupled with finite element method (FEM) solution of the Laplace's equation leads to estimates for permittivity as a function of the composite structure. Simulation results are then compared with experimental measurements that corroborate the time-dependent evolution of the dielectric permittivity.
