Secondary electron emission coefficients of standard samples for GDOES

Résumé

The purpose of this work is to determine Paschen curves for standard samples used for calibration in glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy. The experimental set-up is described for measuring the breakdown voltage of a material\textendashgas couple. This voltage corresponds to the Townsend regime of the discharge. Several materials (copper, nickel, iron and titanium) have been studied in the presence of argon and the results are presented here. From this preliminary work, effective secondary emission coefficients have been calculated versus the reduced electric field for each standard sample.
