Résumé

Current micro review focuses on Earth-abundant molecular transition metal photosensitizers and catalysts for dye sensitized photoelectrochemical cells for direct solar energy storage. The possibility of direct conversion of solar energy into fluids (ethanol or methanol) or gases (hydrogen or methane) in a cost efficient way is considered a disruptive and innovative breakthrough for large-scale implementation of solar fuel technologies. At present, it is a fast-growing research area and the most outstanding results are highlighted.
