High order semi-lagrangian particle methods
Résumé
Particle methods for convection-dominated problems are often associated with frequent particle remeshing to maintain the regularity of the particle distribution and guarantee accuracy. In that case these methods can be seen as forward semi-lagrangian methods.
I will show how to derive in a systematic way such methods which combine high order accuracy and CFL-free stability properties.
I will also show in particular two applications of these methods : the adaptive computation of flows in complex geometries, and the the exploration of universal scaling in the turbulent transport of a passive scalar.
