One of the goals of the EAST-EEA European research project is to define a software architecture description language (EAST-ADL) being able to describe the whole development process of vehicles. This document is divided into two main parts. The first one explores the relations between objects, models and metamodels when designing a software architecture description language. The second part explains what is a "metamodelling" tool and how these tools can be used as part of the EAST-EEA project.
