Résumé

The device has an electromagnetic induction based heating unit i.e. solenoid coil (12), arranged in a cup (21) of a piston, and adapted to realize heating cycles. A channel (13) of a cooling circuit is permanently supplied with a fluid at temperature lower than maximum temperature reached at the time of the heating cycles. The cooling circuit is placed at the level of a skirt (22) of the piston. An optical pyrometer (17) measures the maximum temperature in a part of the piston. An optical measurement unit indicates structural damage of the piston. An independent claim is also included for a method for testing thermal fatigue of a piston of a thermal engine.
